This was my dream a few years ago. A computer with a 3D scanner. Yes you read right, HP Sprout Pro G2 was a computer made for scanning 3D objects. Like other products like this, I mean non standart, are always for marketing pop-ups. It was obvious it won't continue many years. Main purpose was just a show off of the brand itself. First released around 2014 and discontinued around 2017 .
These computers represent a promising concept that's still trying to find its way in the tech world, kind of like HP's attempt at making printers that don't run out of ink after printing just one page. I believe it's a missed opportunity not to offer the touchpad as a conventional touch screen with access to the standard desktop. It's almost as if HP is trying to compete in the 'limited software Olympics' with a gold medal in restricted options. I'd love to use my Adobe software with a touch pen on the touchpad, but it seems HP wants to keep the Wacom tablet market alive and well. The creators' vision appears to be as narrow as a printer's paper feed, but let's hope they broaden their horizons in future iterations!
